Fast Trackers is an exciting programme by Network Rail and Mott MacDonald that introduces students to engineering. The programme consists of four parts, a launch event, employer visit, station visit, and regional final… for those lucky enough to make it through there is also a national final.
On Monday 20th May 2019 students studying level 3 qualifications across the region travelled to the University of Bradford to take part in the Fast Trackers regional final. This group of students have already attended a launch event, a visit to Newcastle Central Station and a visit to Hitachi. Students spent the day working with Network Rail and Mott Macdonald staff to consolidate the work they have done on the engineering challenge so far, and work on their presentation skills. In the afternoon students presented their challenge work to a panel of judges. Students from the North East were competing against students from the North of England for a place at the national final, to be held in Birmingham in July.
