ABOUT THIS TALK

There are so many possibilities for children leaving college. This talk will equip parents and carers to play a crucial role in helping their children to make the best possible decisions about the next stage in their exciting future.

The talk will cover 4 really important areas:

– How to listen so that your child expresses their thoughts fully (including when to ask reflective questions)

– How to manage your own responses and reactions to your child’s plans (especially when you really disagree!)

– How to have a positive conversation and share ideas (including when and where to talk plus what definitely NOT to say!)

– How to help your child with their own fluctuating emotions (so that they feel settled and confident)

This session is not delivered by the North East Uni Connect Programme or FutureMe. The session will be delivered by the Southern Universities Network.
