Key facts
Apprenticeships allow students to gain a qualification and earn a wage, through a mixture of workplace and classroom learning. Students will spend 80% of their time in the workplace, learning the practical skills needed in their chosen industry, and 20% of their time at a college, university or training provider. The level of apprenticeship influences the qualification gained but can be up to degree level. The wage an apprentice earns will depend on their age, the level of their apprenticeship and the length of time they have been completing the apprenticeship.
Where can they lead?
Depending on the level of qualification gained, apprenticeships can be a great route into:
- Employment
- An apprenticeship at a higher level
- A course of Level 3/4/5/6 study
